301 journalist Tatev Azizyan spoke with Linda Euljekjian, the wife of Vicken Euljekjian, who is currently being held hostage in Azerbaijan.
Also joining the conversation were Luciana Minassian, President of the Society for Orphaned Armenian Relief (SOAR) Chapter in Buenos Aires, and Carolina Ouzcouchian, the chapter’s Deputy President.
Together, they discussed the current condition of Vicken Euljekjian and the international response to his case.
Euljekjian was taken hostage by Azerbaijani forces on November 10, 2020—just hours after the trilateral ceasefire agreement was signed to end the Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) war. He had traveled to Shushi to retrieve personal belongings. As he attempted to return to Armenia, he was detained at an Azerbaijani checkpoint and later convicted on terrorism charges—a ruling widely condemned by Armenian and international human rights advocates as a politically motivated act of persecution.
