Armenia will be represented at the 61st Venice International Art Biennale with “Ode to Lord Byron” by artist Zadik Zadikian, which will run from May 9 to November 22, 2026, under the theme “In Minor Keys.”

The Venice Biennale, founded in 1895, is one of the world’s most prestigious and influential cultural events. Held every two years, it serves as a global platform for contemporary art, architecture, film, dance, music, and theater, bringing together artists, curators, and audiences from around the world to explore new ideas and artistic expressions. National pavilions-such as Armenia’s-highlight each country’s contribution to the international art scene, making the Biennale a cornerstone of global artistic dialogue.

The selection followed a national competition to determine the curator and artist for the Armenian Pavilion. During its session on October 16, the jury reviewed seven proposals and, through a closed vote, selected Zadikian’s project as the winner. The pavilion will be curated by Tony Shafrazi and Tina Shakarian.

Zadik Zadikian is a contemporary visual artist known for his distinctive and innovative works, exhibited in major galleries across the United States and Europe. Tony Shafrazi, a renowned contemporary art specialist, serves as an advisor to several leading international galleries, while Tina Shakarian has curated and organized numerous contemporary art exhibitions abroad.
