Inter Milan have announced that Armenian football legend and former Armenia national team captain Henrikh Mkhitaryan has signed a one-year contract extension that will keep him at the club until 30 June 2027.
“The journey continues,” Inter said in a statement confirming the agreement.
According to Italian football journalist and transfer expert Nicolò Schira, Mkhitaryan will earn an annual salary of €2 million under the new deal, plus performance-related bonuses.
The decision to retain the 37-year-old midfielder was also backed by new head coach Cristian Chivu, who considers Mkhitaryan an integral part of his plans despite his age.
Mkhitaryan once again underlined his importance during the 2024-25 season, making 39 appearances across Serie A, the UEFA Champions League, the Coppa Italia, and the Italian Super Cup. He scored four goals and provided three assists, continuing to establish himself as one of Inter’s most reliable and consistent midfielders.
Since joining Inter on a free transfer from AS Roma in 2022, Mkhitaryan has played a central role in one of the club’s most successful recent periods. He has helped the Nerazzurri win the Serie A title, two Italian Super Cups, and the Coppa Italia, while also reaching two UEFA Champions League finals.
Widely regarded as Armenia’s greatest footballer, Mkhitaryan is the country’s all-time leading scorer and one of its most decorated players. His latest contract extension ensures he will remain in Milan through the end of the 2026-27 season.
