Armenia’s Constitutional Court has rejected the petitions filed by opposition political forces seeking to overturn or revise the results of the June 7 parliamentary elections, leaving the Central Electoral Commission’s certification of the election results in force.

Under the final results, the ruling “Civil Contract” Party received 49.745% of the vote, the “Strong Armenia” Alliance 23.271%, and the “Armenia” Alliance 9.923%, making them the three political forces represented in the new National Assembly.

“The decision is final and enters into force upon its announcement,” Constitutional Court Chair Arman Dilanyan said while reading the ruling.

The court had considered seven separate petitions filed by the “Strong Armenia” Alliance, “Prosperous Armenia” Party, “Armenia” Alliance, “Wings of Unity” Party, “Democracy, Law, Discipline” Party, the “For the Republic Alliance of Democracy Defenders” Party, and the “New Power” Reformist Party.

The applicants had sought a range of remedies, including invalidating the election results, ordering a second round of voting, and other measures provided under Armenian law.

The ruling brings to a close weeks of legal proceedings that followed recounts at 555 polling stations, the invalidation of three polling stations, and multiple disputes over the conduct and outcome of the June 7 parliamentary elections.
