277 veterans of the 44-day war were stripped of their disability status and made ineligible for benefits.. 261 of the veterans were considered in the 3rd group, and another 16 veterans were similarly deprived of their disability status, having previously been placed in the 2nd group of disability. In addition, 128 veterans disability grouping was lowered from 2nd to 3rd.
Answering questions submitted by the media, the RA Ministry of Labor and Social Security clarified that from February 1, 2023, the process of determining a person’s disability will be carried out through a different system of assessing the person’s functionality.
“The criteria for defining a person’s disability are derived from the definitions of disability and are considered within the context of the person’s body functions, activities, and participation restrictions and cannot depend on the circumstance of participating in military operations,” the ministry mentioned in its announcement.
As stated in the annex to the decision, which will come into force on February 1, 2023, a new evaluation committee will be formed for each individual case of evaluating a person’s functionality. The members of the evaluation committee will be randomly selected automatically by an electronic system from the register of specialists involved. All documentation will be completed through the new “e-disability” electronic system.
