On February 4, members of the Swiss National Council Erich Fontobelle and Stefan Müller-Altermatt, along with John Eibner, President of Christian Solidarity International (CSI), visited the Permanent Representation of Artsakh in the Republic of Armenia. The delegation also included CSI representatives Joel Veldkamp and Peter Fuchs.

The guests were received under the leadership of Ashot Danielyan, Acting President of the Republic of Artsakh and President of the National Assembly, together with Vice President of the National Assembly Gagik Bagunts, heads of parliamentary factions, the Human Rights Defender of Artsakh, and a representative of the Committee for the Protection of the Rights of the People of Artsakh.

At the start of the meeting, Ashot Danielyan awarded Erich Fontobelle the “Gratitude” Medal of the Republic of Artsakh, while certificates of appreciation were presented to Stefan Müller-Altermatt and John Eibner.

During the discussion, Danielyan outlined the political direction of ongoing efforts aimed at restoring the rights of the people of Artsakh and addressed the current social and psychological condition of the displaced population.

Fontobelle and Müller-Altermatt, in turn, presented the progress of implementing the motion adopted in 2025 by both chambers of the Swiss Parliament, titled “Peace Forum for Nagorno-Karabakh: Ensuring the Possibility of the Return of Armenians,” as well as related initiatives underway.

The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on bilateral cooperation and planned next steps toward future joint programs.
