Images circulated by Azerbaijani social media users appear to show damage to the Saint Nerses the Great Church in occupied Martuni, with the structure’s cross torn down and its windows shattered.

The church, consecrated in 2004, was built with funding from philanthropist Alice Ohanian and is dedicated to the prominent Armenian Catholicos, St. Nerses the Great.

The reported incident follows claims over the past month that Azerbaijani forces have destroyed significant Armenian religious sites in occupied Stepanakert, including the Holy Mother of God Cathedral

and Saint Hakob Church.
