Six opposition political forces have issued a joint statement rejecting the official results of Armenia’s June 7 parliamentary elections, arguing that the vote was marred by systemic violations that undermined the integrity of the electoral process.
The statement, signed by the Strong Armenia Alliance, Armenia Alliance, Prosperous Armenia Party, Bright Armenia Party, Armenian National Congress, and National Democratic Pole, asserts that the official results do not reflect the true will of the Armenian people and cannot serve as the basis for forming a legitimate government that enjoys the confidence of the majority of citizens.
The six political forces cited what they described as the widespread use of administrative resources, political persecution of opposition figures and activists, obstruction of opposition campaign headquarters, abuse of state and pro-government media resources, and irregularities in vote counting and the invalidation of polling station results.
The signatories also warned that responsibility for any future escalation of the political situation in Armenia rests with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and his government.
The statement comes one week after parliamentary elections that resulted in a victory for the ruling Civil Contract Party, which secured a parliamentary majority according to official results certified by the Central Electoral Commission.

STATEMENT BY SIX POLITICAL FORCES
Regarding the results of the June 7 parliamentary elections and the political situation in the country
The parliamentary elections held in the Republic of Armenia took place under conditions that fundamentally call into question the free, fair, and competitive nature of the electoral process.
We, the undersigned political forces, note that throughout the entire electoral process, including both the pre-election period and Election Day, systemic and organized violations occurred that significantly affected voters’ free expression of will, the provision of equal political competition, and public trust in electoral institutions. Furthermore, the ruling regime engaged in clear violations of the fundamental principles of electoral law.
- Widespread Use of Administrative Resources and Pressure
Across the country, the intensive involvement of state and municipal officials, as well as the resources of those institutions, educational and healthcare establishments, and the security apparatus in political processes, distorted equal conditions of competition. Pressure exerted on public employees, along with threats of dismissal and legal persecution, created an atmosphere of dependency incompatible with the constitutional principle of free elections.
- Political Persecution and Arrests
The election campaign was accompanied by a wave of political persecution targeting opposition figures, activists, and supporters. Authorities employed unjustified arrests and detentions with the aim of isolating individuals who enjoyed public trust and disrupting organizational work with opposition voters. These actions, systemic in nature, were carried out particularly during the election campaign to cultivate a widespread climate of fear.
- Deliberate Obstruction of Opposition Campaign Headquarters
On the eve of voting and on Election Day itself, June 7, law enforcement bodies carried out a widespread paralysis of opposition campaign headquarters. Searches, disruptions to the normal functioning of campaign offices through unfounded legal actions, and the arrests of organizers were intended to neutralize mechanisms for monitoring the electoral process.
- Abuse of Information and Media Resources
Public media, pro-government outlets, and even state media resources were used throughout the campaign to discredit the opposition, undermine the presumption of innocence, promote public division, and spread hate speech. The suppression of dissenting views in the information sphere violated all constitutional norms of equal competition.
- Vote Counting Irregularities and Selective Invalidation of Polling Station Results
Numerous cases were recorded involving arbitrary alterations of voting results at polling stations and the use of other unlawful mechanisms at certain polling locations. These actions affected the election outcome and the distribution of votes among political forces. This was compounded by direct interference in the election process by the head of the ruling regime before official election results had been announced.
Therefore, we declare:
The official election results do not reflect the true will of the people or the actual outcome of the elections.
Under such circumstances, the recorded results cannot serve as the basis for forming a legitimate government that enjoys the confidence of the majority of the people.
Full responsibility for any further escalation of the situation in the country rests entirely with Nikol Pashinyan and his regime.
We will continue to act exclusively within the framework of the Constitution, the law, and democratic principles, defending citizens’ right to freely express their will and protecting the fundamental values of the statehood and democracy of the Republic of Armenia.
Our future decisions and actions will be based solely on these realities.
