The Armenian government will allocate 16.7 million drams ($43,000) from its reserve fund to the Ministry of Health to organize medical treatment in Armenia for children with serious health conditions from the Gaza Strip.

According to the government’s justification for the decision, Armenia’s Ministry of Health expressed readiness to bring up to 10 children from Gaza to Armenia and provide them with necessary medical care at Armenian healthcare facilities.

Of 11 patients initially considered for treatment, seven were selected. However, only three of the seven families agreed to Armenia’s condition that each child could be accompanied by no more than one person.

The initiative comes as Armenia has strengthened its engagement on the Palestinian issue. On June 21, 2024, Armenia officially recognized the State of Palestine, saying it supported a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and reaffirming its commitment to international law and peaceful coexistence. Armenia and Palestine subsequently established diplomatic relations on September 27, 2024.
