Nearly six years after the 2020 Artsakh War, Armenian authorities are still giving different figures for how many people were killed.
Armenia’s Investigative Committee has now said that 3,833 people were killed and another 191 remain missing.
The statement comes days after President Vahagn Khachaturyan said during a visit to CEVRO University in Prague that Armenia had lost 4,800 people in the war.
“We had 4,800 deaths during the 44-day war and lost the territory of Karabakh,” Khachaturyan said.
As the six-year commemoration of the 2020 Artsakh War approaches, Pashinyan’s authorities still have not provided one clear, consistently presented accounting of how many Armenians were killed.

The following day, his office said the 4,800 figure had been cited in error and gave 3,755 instead.
The Investigative Committee has now put the overall death toll at 3,833.
The committee itself has also published different casualty figures in previous years before later revising them.
Nearly six years after the war, Armenian state institutions are still presenting different numbers for the dead, and there is still no definitive public name-by-name list of all those killed.
