The Speaker of Armenia’s National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, declined formal inter-parliamentary discussions with representatives from Artsakh. Despite meeting with Gagik Bagunts, the Acting Speaker of the Artsakh Parliament, it was emphasized that the meeting occurred on a personal rather than an official basis.
During the informal meeting, Bagunts attempted to initiate discussions on inter-parliamentary issues, as reported by Hraparak’s sources. However, these efforts did not lead to a productive dialogue.
Nelly Ghoulyan, the press secretary for Simonyan, confirmed the extension of such an offer but clarified that Simonyan declined the official meeting, stating that anyone seeking to meet with Simonyan must follow standard procedures.
Gagik Bagunts assumed the role of Acting Speaker following the forced ethnic cleansing in Artsakh and the illegal detention of Davit Ishkhanyan, the Speaker of Artsakh’s parliament, by Azerbaijan.
