The Football Federation of Armenia has officially appointed Yeghishe Melikyan as the new head coach of the national team. The 46-year-old’s candidacy was unanimously approved by the FFA Executive Committee earlier today.

Melikyan has signed a deal running through November 2026, marking the start of a new chapter for Armenian football under local leadership.

Prior to taking charge of the national team, Melikyan enjoyed a successful and influential spell at FC Pyunik — the most decorated club in Armenian football — where he established himself as one of the top managers in Armenia.

The appointment follows the earlier announcement that John van’t Schip has stepped down as head coach, ending his brief tenure with the national side. The FFA confirmed his departure via an official statement earlier in the day.
