On July 14, the Council for the Protection of the Rights of Artsakh Armenians organized a protest in front of the Government Building, demanding urgent solutions to the severe social issues facing Artsakh citizens.

Representatives of the Artsakh community exited the government building following the meeting. Gegham Stepanyan, the Human Rights Defender of Artsakh, noted that the meeting lasted longer than originally planned.

“No agreement was reached regarding the continuation of the housing support program. They claimed to be constructive about improving the programs, but based on my experience, I can say it’s pointless,” Stepanyan stated.

The meeting was held with Arman Adilkhanian, Chief of Staff of Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Khachatryan’s office, and Davit Khachatryan, Deputy Minister of Social Affairs.

Stepanyan emphasized that as of today, it has become clear that the government does not see the homelessness of Artsakh citizens as a justified reason to act.

As a reminder, following the protest on July 12, the Council decided to launch a sit-in at Freedom Square, which as of yesterday has been relocated to Republic Square.
