Artsakh’s government-in-exile has launched consultations with parliamentary and extra-parliamentary political forces in Armenia following the 2026 parliamentary elections.
Artsakh State Minister Nzhdeh Iskandaryan said the elections have created a new political reality in Armenia, making it necessary to establish where political forces stand on the Artsakh issue and the future of Artsakh’s state institutions. The consultations are intended to clarify whether they support preserving those institutions, continued cooperation with Artsakh’s leadership and the protection of the rights of the people of Artsakh, as well as what concrete steps they are prepared to take.
Iskandaryan said the future of Artsakh’s institutions can no longer be left to silence, assumptions or isolated political statements. Political forces that believe their work should end should say so publicly and assume responsibility for that position, while those that support their continued operation should make clear what practical cooperation they are prepared to pursue.
Artsakh’s state institutions continue operating in exile following Azerbaijan’s occupation of Artsakh and the forced displacement of its Armenian population in September 2023.
