Armenian national football team captain Eduard Spertsyan could miss the upcoming UEFA Nations League matches against Cyprus and Latvia amid growing concerns over his fitness, following reports that the midfielder has been playing through an injury.

The 26-year-old Al-Ahli midfielder has reportedly received injections to manage the injury and continue playing in recent matches. His performances have also raised concerns, although the exact nature and severity of the injury remain unclear.

Spertsyan experienced muscle pain following Al-Ahli’s goalless draw against Qatar’s Al-Sadd in the AFC Champions League on November 2. Despite completing the full 90 minutes, he required medical attention after the final whistle, according to Sportaran.

The midfielder has experienced fitness problems earlier this year, including a back injury during his time at Russian club Krasnodar.

His potential absence would be a significant setback for Armenia, with Spertsyan serving as national team captain and one of the squad’s principal attacking midfielders.

Armenia are scheduled to host Cyprus on November 12 before facing Latvia away on November 15 in their final UEFA Nations League group-stage fixtures.

Neither Al-Ahli nor the Football Federation of Armenia has publicly confirmed that Spertsyan will miss the matches. His availability remains uncertain pending further information about his recovery.
